With respect to physical training, it should be hard at the beginning and as your body adapts to the training stimulus it gets "easier".
When this happens you need to change something like load, sets, reps, exercise, frequency and so on.
All training should be hard at the beginning except for ...
When you are learning a NEW skill.
This could be a new and more complicated exercise in the weight room like the Olympic Lifts. It is not uncommon to train just with a wood pole for the first few training sessions when learning these lifts.
This also applies to any sport activity.
Even applies to one of my passions which is drumming. When I am learning a new rhythm or pattern I must sometimes go sooooo slow that it doesn't even sound one bit musical. This is OK though, because at slower speeds you are able to learn at a much quicker rate.
So you must slow down in order to be able to speed up later on.
